It gives me great pleasure to send this message to all Jacobeans at home and abroad on the successful inauguration of their Web site. What started off as a modest effort at gathering all the old boys spread across the global canvas, has now taken wings and will continue to soar.
A lot has changed in education in general and school education in particular, but what has endured is the strong bond and love the pupils have for their schools. A bond that is, perhaps, stronger than the one forged in later life while pursuing a university course.
Our school, with a glorious history dating back to 1864, is now one of the premier educational institutions in the county. We have reached this position because of the clear vision, the unstinted support and hard work of the Founders, the past and present Principals, teachers, parents, well wishers and above all, generations of boys (and a very few girls as well in the past).
As we prepare to celebrate the sesquicentennial anniversary of St. James’ School in 2014, all the stake-holders need to contribute toward the endeavour to make the occasion a grand success but also to rededicate themselves to the service of the school we so dearly love.
I take this opportunity to thank all those who have been instrumental in founding the St. James’ School Alumni Association and supporting its efforts over the years. The past Principals, Mr. J. A. Mason, Mr. D. L. Bloud, the present incumbent Mr. T. H. Ireland , Vice-Principals Mr. M. Rodrick, Mr. M. A. Menezes, and not forgetting Mr. I. Nehal, an ex-pupil and a retired teacher who was a strong support in founding it. I, however, reserve my heartfelt gratitude to all the old boys who came forward to start and then help the association grow under the able stewardship of Mr. M. Rodrick – President, Mr. Aurangzeb Alam – Vice President, Mr. Anil Gupta, Mr. Pratap Daryanani – Secretary, Mr. Rajesh Khanna, Mr. Sunil Agarwal, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Mr. Sudeep Sarkar, Mr. Vineet Poddar, Mr. Saif Saigal, Mr. Faraz Ahmed, Mr. Azhar Ahmed and other Board Members – past and present. May this association prosper and grow in every realm.
